A woman suspects her husband of having an affair. After following several lines of enquiries far more unravels including a streak of violence below the surface.

The drama rather started out slowly. Suranne Jones is Doctor Foster who thinks that her husband might be cheating on her but he keeps coming out with plausible explanations.
Of course you think how is this going to last the course of five episodes and why does she not just leave him?
The plot turns on Doctor Jones, a beautiful, successful woman, a mother and GP. Her husband is less successful and less intelligent but seems like a serial womanise.
Doctor Jones is a woman scorned by her cheating husband and despite all the middle class paranoia she will deliciously take revenge.
The series was not perfect, it was uneven and stretched its five episode format. I felt all the characters apart from the little son were rather horrible.
Of course it was the final episode when Doctor Foster maliciously connived to reveal her husband as a cad so publicly at the dinner party and took him out like some mafia appointed hit-woman.
It is noticeable how it is only when she is punched by her husband that people come back in support of her.
Doctor Foster wanted her house, her career and her son and she was determined to keep it all while lowering her husband down a peg or two.
