Summary of Californication Season 5 DVD Box Set
The show returned to Showtime for its fifth season in January 2012.Creator Tom Kapinos said[citation needed] that the show needed to take on a new direction to stay fresh. The narrative takes place two years and nine months after season 4, almost at the end of Hank's probation. Hank has since made his home in New York, but returns to Los Angeles for a business related visit, which gets extended following family issues. Karen is married to Professor Bates, Becca (now 19 years old and in college) has a new boyfriend, and Marcy is married to Stu Beggs while sharing custody of her son, Stuart, with Charlie.
